Taylor Sizemore

Taylor Sizemore is an artist and arts educator living and working in the
DMV. She has familial roots in the small coal mining town of Grundy, Virginia
and grew up in Okinawa, Japan. Sizemore holds an MFA from American
University and a BFA in painting and drawing with a minor in art history from
Longwood University. Through the genre of autobiographical and cultural still
life, Sizemore’s practice includes oil paint on canvas and handmade pine
frames, as well as collage and acrylic works on paper.

Her work, despite ranging in media, connects through themes of desire,
humor, fear, identity, and memory.

Sizemore has exhibited with Stable (DC), The Bedford Gallery (VA), The
Longwood Center for Visual Arts (VA), The Valdosta National (GA), Goodwin
House (VA), and The American University Museum (DC) and worked with
institutions including The National Gallery of Art, Emory University, and Soho
House. Sizemore's first solo show, Frame of Reference, opened at the
Strathmore Mansion in the fall of 2024 (MD). She has co-curated exhibitions
including “Holding Hands, Holding Space” and “Small Talk”, both invitational
exhibitions fostering care and community among artists. Sizemore has works
on paper and prints hosted at Transformer Gallery in Logan Circle (DC).
And in 2025, Sizemore is a Kinetic Artist with Hamiltonian. Her work resides in
private collections across the US, Berlin, and Japan. Sizemore's work is part
of the permanent collection at The Ned's Club, Washington, DC.
